Whitewater Rafting … Challenging ! Awesome ! Exhilarating !
“Challenging, awesome and exhilaration” are just some of the words used to describe whitewater rafting. An ever popular pleasurable sport – whitewater rafting is proving a huge hit with people of all ages and abilities.
After hard working with our little time, we need to seek the most extreme excitement and utmost temper to life. Our team, 5 people who thirst the acrobatic taste were packed tight in a 4-wheel, heading to the green jungle not far from Chiang Mai city. The destination in this trip is “Rafting in fast flowing Mae Taeng Stream” at Ban Sop Kai, Tumbol Kued Chang, Amphur Mae Taeng. After seeking out and knew that here is the one of most challenged route in Thailand. But you will be safety by the Chiang Mai Adventure professional team because all rescues were trained from Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Nakhorn Nayok province. Moreover, they provide the individual Life Insurance for tourists. All along this 10 km of this stunning stream, we experienced the most extreme excitement by the helping hand of the security guard on shore.
Our adventure was starting tasteful when turning left (from Mae Rim – Chiang Dao main street) at Mae Malai junction and went along through the road to Pai. When passing the 3rd Kilometer stone, turning right again at Ban Huai Rai. Around 20 km from this point, it was fully time of touching greenery. On 2 lens asphalt road, pressing on both sides with wild plants and stair-growing orchard until Mae Taeng stream at Ban Muang Kued, and then turning left to the veritable adventure. Since rough road, mountain stone and river stone which was curving all along 10 km to Ban Sop Kai.
Then we were standing on the shore hearing the thunderous roar and saw the white foam, the holes, the walls, and the waves. We felt the anticipation of the river flowing under our boat. It wanted us. Sliding out into the froth our senses was aware of the slightest sound, sight, or movement, We were balance on the edge and it seemed the slightest nudge sent us swimming. And each 1.5 meter raft requiring up to 5 men to sent it a loft and maneuver it. Pass through the 4 kilometers dangerous point which there was be true, since one raft could not resist the wild current and turned down. One of the rafters missed a stroke and plunged into the tempest. Seconds later two of his teammates threw a lifeline through the river and pulled him to the river shore. After that everything was controlled by their professional team.
Nearing the first rapid our pulse quickens. We heard the guide called that fateful command “All hard forward!” and “Over left” when the raft inclined to right. The raft lunged into the maelstrom then the river tossed it left, right, and up. The force of our paddle against the water held us inside the raft against twisting, pulling, and pushing forces of inertia. The waves splashed over our head. Therefore, we past it by the potential commands. Then everything was calm. We had made it through the rapid. … After passing the genuine utmost, we totally came fulfilled …
What to wear ; In cold weather, bring a wetsuit or rent from the outfitter. Avoid cotton, because it loses insulation when wet. In summer, wear a swimsuit and T=Shirt. Bring old sneakers (or other shoes you don’t mind getting wet), sunscreen and a change of clothes.
